Phish at The Gorge, Summer 1997

Unlike last year, when very solid rumors and inside sources everywhere were confirming summer plans MONTHS in advance, these dates seem to be based mostly on venue holds, hearsay, and PT blotter, but they are the most realistic seeming dates circulating thus far. In terms of when an announcement will take place, the smart money is on the weeks following Mike Gordon’s upcoming solo tour (March 5th-March 14th ). Whatever ends up happening, spring is in the air and we’re not much more than 90 days away (if that!) from Summer Phish – so… set the gear shift for the high gear of your soul, and get ready to rage!

Bonnaroo Lineup Announced!

The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival announced its 2010 lineup today via a continually updated animation on the festival’s MySpace page. A new artist was announced every six minutes between 12 Noon and 9 PM… This novel, yet extremely drawn out announcement process was not well received by the online community.

Bonnaroo MySpace Page - 2/9 9PM

This year’s biggest names are Jay-Z, DMB, Stevie Wonder, Kings of Leon, The Flaming Lips with Stardeath and White Dwarfs performing “Dark Side of the Moon”, and Weezer. This is probably the festival’s least jam-influenced set of headliners to date, but the festival still offers a few solid jamband staples, including Les Claypool, The Disco Biscuits,  and Lotus. Overall, this lineup won’t get me to Tennessee this summer, but to each his own. Bonnaroo will announce a number of additional artists in the coming months including some big names, so stay tuned!
