Free Mule in B’More

Gov’t Mule recently kicked off their By A Thread Summer Tour 2010 with a few Northeast shows including a FREE show this past Saturday at Artscape in Baltimore. The night previous in Raleigh, NC saw The Mule’s tour opener get cut short after a few songs due to strong rain and storms. Warren and crew know how to come out of the rain with some soulshine like no other band on the circuit today and they did just that for their big Saturday night show. The setlist, guests, and (most importantly) the recording speak for themselves – this show is straight F-I-R-E Fire. Give it a whirl and get pumped up for lots more Mule in 2010!

Mule’s House of Blues

Gov’t Mule always rocks the House of Blues – be it in New Jersey, Florida, Illinois or even Dallas, Texas where the band found themselves last Thursday evening. The House of Blues bears a certain weight, a certain tradition of bluesmen past that modern blues greats like Warren Haynes can channels and revel in.

What better place for Gov’t Mule to flex their blues muscle and show off their new and improved rhythm section featuring Jorgen Carlsson on bass. The new Mule lineup has really gelled over the course of 2009 into 2010 and the band is back to playing with that utmost confidence and precision, the way only Mule can. Last Thursday’s show was no exception, the band is on, the setlist is hot, and the blues runs deep. Setlist, downloads, and vids below…

Gov’t Mule – 1/28/10 – Nashville, TN

Gov’t Mule is currently truckin’ along, mid-way through their massive ‘By A Thread Winter 2010 Tour‘. The tour kicked off on January 20th in Fort Lauderdale, FL just 2 days after the conclusion of the band’s first ever ‘Island Exodus’ in Negril, Jamaica. This tour covers serious ground and has already made stops in Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Ohio (all in a little over a week). Upcoming big tour stops include The House of Blues in Cleveland and Chicago AND Dallas, The Pageant in St. Louis, The Filmore in Devner, and Stubb’s Amphitheater in Austin among many others. It’s touring like this that earns Warren Haynes and the Mule Crew serious respect in the Jam Scene and reinforce Warren’s reputation as the hardest working man in Jam.

Warren Ragin'

Check out this fun and eclectic Mule show from Thursday night at the Ryman in Nashville, TN. Mule busted out some rare covers like ‘The Shape I’m In’ (The Band), ‘Ventilator Blues’ (Rolling Stones), and ‘When The Music’s Over’ (The Doors) along w/ more oft-played cover tunes ‘Dear Prudence’ (Beatles), ‘Cortez The Killer’ (Neil Young). Three of these coveres – Ventilator, Dear Prudence, and Cortez – featured guest sit-ins by Audley Freed, guitarist from the Black Crowes.
