The latest (and most legitimate) Phish summer tour 2012 rumors:

-Phish returns to Bethel for memorial day weekend (latest word is that this is just about finalized)

-Phish ‘fest’ in AC at Bader Field, June 15th-17 (LOTS of talk about this, hotels are selling out. This seems likely). Watch a speech from the mayor of AC about the upcoming ‘jamband’ concerts in June (start video at 16:30)

-Phish in Vegas April’s Fools day weekend (see tweets from@jpcoolican)

-Phish will return to Bonnaroo (seems VERY likely). Most recent Bonnaroo clue likely about Phish: “And now for ‘RooClue #3: The original simpleton; misspell the mini-liar” (via Bonnaroo Twitter)

More Stirrings of Phish Fest in Limestone 8/27-8/29

A new comment was received today here on Welcome To Now Blog regarding the rumor that Phish is looking to do an end-of-summer festival after Jones Beach. Here is the comment verbatim:

IT Festival 'Tower Jam' - Loring AFB

“Fistyphisy Said on June 22, 2010 at 12:20 pm:

This is totally confirmed… I was backstage at the Saratoga NY show the other night. I am 100% sure that the road after Jones Beach leads to Limestone ME. Phish has rented out Loring Air Force base for the weekend of Aug. 27th, 28th and 29th. This was confirmed by a member of the band and two stage hands (at different times of the night). This is what was stated, “We looked at a place in New Hampshire, the international speedway, it would have been perfect, but they have an event planned already and we were too late. We had to go with the ol’ stand by and book Limestone”. – Undisclosed Band Member.

This is so low key that only a few people back stage knew about where the festival was. However, I talked to others that knew about the festival, but didn’t know where yet. For example, I talked to the bands set/show photographer and he was told that he was booked for a festival in late Aug., but was not told where. He was told to keep the dates open for a Phish weekend festival. I also talked to a guy on the sound board that knew about a festival in late Aug. but stated, “I can’t tell you anymore than that, stay tuned”.

As this past weekend progressed from Hartford->Spac, there was a newly revived comotion about a late summer festival and word getting out from close to the band. Nothing’s confirmed yet folks, but let’s all hope for a return to Limestone this summer! Stay tuned to the NOW as things continue to unfold for Phish Summer 2010!

Phish Festival in Limestone 8/27-8/29?

While completely unconfirmed and unsubstantiated, the following rumor popped up today right here on Welcome To Now. I received this comment from a reader in response to previous rumors posted here about Phish’s 2010 Summer Tour plans:

“Just confirmed permits have been submitted for Loring Airforce Base Limestone ME. Late Aug. 27/28/29. The town is already asking for volunteers from the towns folk for a large 3 day concert. Hummmmm.. I wonder who that could be!”

Any other heads out there here similar rumblings out of Limestone?

IT Festival - Loring Air Force Base, Limestone ME - 2003

While this is certainly late in the season for a summer festival announcement, recent news that Phish will NOT return to Indio in 2010 does make this scenario more likely.

Phish in Telluride Approved

The final of a series of legal and legislative hurdles was overcome today as local officials gave the final stamp of approval to AEG’s request to hold a pair of Phish shows in the Town Park in Telluride, CO on August 9th and 10th. As part of the negotiations, the town was able to guarantee 1,500 of 9,000 tickets for locals. While this has many phish fans up in arms, there will be no shortage of demand for tickets and scalpers, especially local Coloradoan, are sure to make out big on the event. Rumor has it that tickets will only be available in the form of 2 day passes to limit the overall number of Phish-heads coming to town.

This news makes the Leg 2 Summer Tour dates that were posted here and elsewhere seem less likely. There has also been talk of Phish headlining The Mile High Music Festival, taking place August 14th and 15th in Denver shortly after the proposed Telluride dates. This would likely mean no Red Rocks shows in 2010 and a West Coast tour in early August surrounding these dates. That said, the Leg 1 Dates rumored here remain likely and an announcement seems imminent in the coming weeks.

Phish at The Gorge, Summer 1997

Unlike last year, when very solid rumors and inside sources everywhere were confirming summer plans MONTHS in advance, these dates seem to be based mostly on venue holds, hearsay, and PT blotter, but they are the most realistic seeming dates circulating thus far. In terms of when an announcement will take place, the smart money is on the weeks following Mike Gordon’s upcoming solo tour (March 5th-March 14th ). Whatever ends up happening, spring is in the air and we’re not much more than 90 days away (if that!) from Summer Phish – so… set the gear shift for the high gear of your soul, and get ready to rage!
